What if You Won the Lottery?

Lottery ticketI used to come home after work and be completely exhausted. At the time my total commute time each day was just over an hour and a half and I generally had been at work for 9-10 hours. I’d get home and just want to sit in front of the TV or computer and veg out. I was talking to someone recently that is in a similar situation, but she is aware that the fatigue she’s feeling is mostly in her head. She pointed out that if someone were to call her while she was tired and vegging out and tell her that she just won the lottery she would suddenly have LOTS of energy! And nothing but her attitude would have changed.

Being aware that you have the power to change how you feel is a great first step toward doing it. I know that for me, I can know I have the power to change my attitude and still find it really difficult to do. I know that sometimes I really enjoyed wallowing in it. I enjoyed the woe-is-me place because I didn’t have to do a lot there. I got to sit on my butt and watch TV because, dang it, I deserved it after the crappy day I had and besides, I was just soooo tired!

So, what are somethings you can do to change that I’m-too-tired feeling?

  • Give yourself permission to have that feeling for 10 minutes. Set a timer if that helps you and then get up and do something else (or move on to one of the other suggestions below”
  • What is one thing that you want to accomplish? Go and do that.
  • Go for a walk or get some exercise. It’ll get your blood moving!
  • Get more sleep! Go to bed earlier or get up a little later
  • Drink more water. Being tired could be a sign that you’re not getting enough water.
  • Eat something. Maybe you’re blood sugar is low.

What are somethings that you do to re-energize yourself like you won the lottery?

  1. Very insightful. How many people are blah and tired and bored, but if they got a phone call like that would automatically have all the energy and excitement in the world!! I’d say 99.9% of the population.

I won’t answer persay to a lottery win, but to getting a j.o.b! I’ve worked at home for 20 years. And now I’m not doing so well financially. Don’t know if it’s the recession or my abilities! Either way it’s time to go get a j.o.b.

At first I was very upset. I don’t want to leave my house. I don’t want to miss my kids grow up. (Yes, I know you have to work if you have to and many people can’t afford to be at home with their kids – so those people don’t want to hear my sob story.) Anyway, I have two ways I can look at it.

I can look at it as, “I have to go to work.” “I have to get a job.” OR I can look at it as, “Yes, I can get a job to keep my house.” “Yes, I can put food on my kids’ table.” “Yes, we are able to make ends meet!”

It’s a perspective thing! I choose a positive perspective. And I truly believe that that perspective will get me to work, get us back on track and help me to find a way to come back home and work. Just because I have to get a job doesn’t mean I have to work at it forever! Maybe this is the key to me understanding how to make my internet business take off and run like wild fire!

    Great post,

  2. Nice post Evie. It would definetly get you of the couch with a phone call like that.

For me I live each day like it is my last day. You never know what life can hand you, so I do my work and enjoy it. When my parents got to the point in life that they couldn’t do much, I got to thinking, wow I better just be thankful I can get off the couch. Look at each day as an adventure. When you think of it each day is, because you never know what is going to take place that day.

If you have to leave the house to work, be grateful that you have some where to go and a car or two legs that will get you there. Ask yourself, “How would I feel if I was not capable to leave the house?”

Some people my say I play mind games with myself, but hey it works for me. Debbie

  3. I think for me the most important of those suggestions is probably getting enough sleep, getting more exercise and getting up to do something different.

I proved your initial point this morning while still lying in bed. I felt too tired to get up until i thought of a couple of fun things I would get to do in my business. Suddenly, I was ready to get up! 🙂
